"One small seed" is a very inspirational
magazine to me as a designer. The content available is mostly South African but
with quite a few international trends to expose us to a global platform too. The
content also includes a wide variety of topics which include architecture,
design, fashion, culture and life style.
It looks to me that they use the intrnational typographic style and seeks harmony between typography and images. There is no clutter on the page making use of the space provided on the page. They use a strong typoraphic style as you can see by the way the typography is layed out, giving a sense for the viewer to read further and find more information on the topic. The image is very appealing as it is a different design of 3 heads of an animal, bring creativity through the magazine.
In this layout you can see that they used a different typographic style, the information is layed out in a circle also to attract the viewer to take a further look. The photograph is attention grabbing and funky which also draws the eye and the orange image in the middle of the writting is used as the heading of the article and placed in an informal position that wouldn't commonly be used.
The market or niche is aimed at the open minded and the creative people of South Africa. Peole who are eager to learn from quality work especially the younger generation. This is a very inspirational magazine, with alot of interesting information as well as design aspects and it gives inspiration for designers.
This layout shows us that there is more f a structured feel but still has elements of design, the typography is now on the image as well as on the next page and the paragraphs stucture is in a box shape with sub-headings inbetween the paragraphs. The design is very appealing with the strong color(black) background on the right and a photograph on the left, utilizing white typography.
